THE CHALLENGE
With high turnover rates leading to a steady stream of new hire assemblers, a client in the global manufacturing industry faced a growing problem. There was no formal training program at the company’s multiple manufacturing sites; however, the process of building a program to train new hires in various roles while cross-training current employees seemed difficult and costly.
THE Solution
Actio worked with the client to create a comprehensive SOJT program, which pairs expert employee coaches with new or inexperienced employees. The goal: train the employee to perform job-specific work tasks using a structured approach—all within the work environment. Actio created eight job-specific supplemental training plans to sequence the training of all required work tasks for individual roles. These plans also helped to track training completion. More than 60+ corresponding task sheets contained information to guide the expert coach and helped to ensure a consistent, quality training experience for each employee. The final result effectively simplified the employee development process.
